Our Pastor

The Rev. Karen Martin Kepner has been at Grace since November 2009.  She is a a native of South Bend, IN, a graduate of Roanoke College, Salem, VA, and of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA (now part of United Lutheran Seminary).  She has a passion for ministry to families, equipping them to pass on the faith in their own homes.

She currently serves as the Board President of Theology & Peace, an ecumenical, global organization which gathers online and in person.  This organization explores in daily work and practice the insights of mimetic theory pioneered by René  Girard.  T&P studies biblical theology together with well known Girardians and works to foster a sense of beloved community centered on a loving, nonviolent God.

She lives in the church parsonage in Colfax with her little rescue dog, Gus. She loves to knit and teach knitting. Since coming to Grace she has knitted a Raffle Item for each of Grace's Souper Bowl events, raising to date over $4070 for the LSS food pantry.

Our Musician

Julie Singer is our musician, bringing music to our worship experience.  Christmas and Easter are favorite times for her to pull out all the stops.  Grace enjoys a Gospel Music Sunday each year with favorite gospel hymns, new and old, often requested by the congregation.

Additional Staff & Volunteers

Annabelle Kemmer lives up Elder Road near the church.  A busy wife and mother, she manages quite well to keep things very tidy.

Doug Crozier is our Cemetery Manager and a Trustee of the Congregation.  He lives in Sugar Grove, is retired from the Lancaster City Fire Department and helps keep the Cemetery running smoothly.  To contact Doug:  cdcrozier@gmail.com

  • Our Food Pantry Coordinator

Dale Ferbrache, also our Congregation President, lives near the church on Lake Road, enjoying his retirement from Fairfield Union Local Schools.  As Coordinator of our Food Pantry Ministry, he recruits volunteers to serve at the Lutheran Social Services Choice Food Pantry on E. The Reason

It may be just a doll, but our Jesus Doll has been all over the place, from homes of our families, especially those with children, to hospitals and physical rehab rooms, to the bedsides of the dying, and even to the Fairfield County Fair!  He was also with our friends at The Refuge.  Here you see he was just chillin' at the computer (above) and hangin' out with a shepherd (below).

The doll brings comfort for what it represents -- Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. ~ St. Matthew 28:20
